At least 67 people have been killed while awaiting UN humanitarian aid in the north of Gaza's Belt, Hamasi's Ministry of Health announced. According to her, the victims were civilians waiting for emergency supplies at a time when the humanitarian situation in the region is dramatically deteriorating.
The Israeli Protection Forces (IDF) have confirmed that they carried out warning shots in that area, saying they acted to neutralise an immediate “threat”. However, they have rejected figures published by Palestinian authorities, followed by Periscope.
The Health Ministry also reported that six other people have been killed in a similar incident in another part of Gaza, while more than 150 people have been injured some in critical condition.
On Saturday, Palestinian authorities warned of extreme increases in Gaza hunger, stressing that a growing number of people are reaching hospitals and relief centres in heavy physical condition, exhausted by the lack of basic food and aid.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Army has issued new evacuation orders for central Gaza populated areas, even though there has not yet been an ground offensive in those areas during the 21 months of intensive war with Hamas. This has caused fear and uncertainty to thousands of civilians who have already moved several times since the beginning of the conflict.
