The United Education, Science and Culture Union of Kosovo (SBASHK) has indicated that it is preparing for calling an extraordinary, decision-minded congress, to determine union actions in the event the institutional vacuum continues and the lack of dialogue with central authorities.
In a media communiqué, the SBASK stresses that “in frequent meetings with union leaders from all educational levels has carefully analysed the current political and institutional situation in the country”. According to this communiqué, “critics argued with the party that came first in the February elections”, which it accuses of ignoring the will of citizens and ignoring the country's real priorities, including the interests of education workers.
The SBASK expresses concern that, due to the lack of functional institutions, “has no one to address the demands of educational workers”, citing this as a serious institutional vacuum. In this context, the union has intensified contact with union structures across the country from nests to universities.
“Unanimously is set to start preparations for holding an extraordinary congress. This Congress will have a decision-making character for further union actions. It will be examined and decided clearly whether September will mark the start of the new school year, or will be the start of union action, not excluding the general strike in the entire Kosovo educational system”, the SBASK report said.
The union adds that it remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of education workers, while calling on responsible institutions to act responsibly, pave the way for dialogue and provide concrete solutions for educational workers' demands”./Periscopi/
