An attack by Russian forces Wednesday at a mall and market in Dobropillia, a town near the war front line, killed two people, injured about 27 others and caused major damage, officials said. Vadym Filashkin, governor of the eastern Donjeck region, said a 500-kilogram bomb was dropped at 17:20 when citizens were in stores.
He said two people lost their lives and 22 were injured, while eight residential blocks and eight vehicles were destroyed. Videos posted online showed areas around the mall in flames and smoke.
The firelifters are extinguishing the fire because there is still the possibility that there are people inside the material center”, Filashkin told Ukrainian television.
The officer dropped the bomb at a time when Dobropilly was full of people. Many were shopping. The entrepreneur deliberately targeted the mall. All nearby malls have been destroyed or damaged”, he added.
Ukraine's national emergency services claimed the number of wounded was 27.
Filashkin had earlier said that about 30 commercial billboards were damaged.
Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking in his weekly video address, described the attack as the only terrible terror and idiot from Russia. There's no military logic in these attacks, just trying to get as many lives as you can,”.
Dobropillia is located northwest of Pokrovsk, a key point of slow Russian advancement to the west of the Donjeck region for months.
An attack of rockets, rocket launchers and drones at Dobropillia in March had killed 11 people, including five children. / REL/Periscopi/
