At least 14 people have been injured in a night-dig attack in Kiev, which also damaged the railway infrastructure and set fire to buildings and vehicles throughout the city, the mayor said, while separate explosions were reported in a town near Moscow. The attack was the latest in a series of Russian air strikes on Kiev, which have intensified in recent weeks and include some of the deadliest war attacks in the city of three million people.
Twelve of the wounded were taken to the hospital and two were treated at the scene, said Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, in a post in Telegram, reports French media.
The damage was recorded at six out of Kiev's 10 districts on both sides of the Dnieper River, which divides the city in two, and the debris of the faller set a medical object on fire in the Holosivsky leafy circle, Klitschko said.
Ukraine's state railway, Urzaliznysia, the country's largest carrier, said in Telegram that the attack on Kiev damaged the railway infrastructure in the city, diverting a number of passenger trains and causing delays.
The new wave of attacks comes hours after nearly an hour call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump admitted no progress had been made towards a ceasefire agreement, citing the diplomatic stalemate and mounting tension on the Ukrainian front.
Putin, in turn, confirmed that Russia had no intention of withdrawing from its stated goals. /Periscope/
