An unusual attack by a bunch of bees in the town of Aurillac, in south central France, has left 24 people injured. According to local authorities, three of them are in critical condition.
The event occurred on Sunday morning, when passersby in a frequent area of the city were attacked for about 30 minutes by bees.
Emergency services soon arrived at the scene, providing medical assistance and establishing a security perimeter to protect residents and other passersby.
According to Cantal Prefecture, three of the injured were rushed to the hospital, where they were in serious condition. One of them, a 78-year-old, suffered cardiac arrest but was successfully resurrected by medical teams and later his condition stabilised.
Aurillac Mayor Pierre Mathonier told BFM TV television that the attack may have been caused by Asian wasps, an invasive species known for its aggression.
