The professor who accompanied the former German ambassador to Albania relates his last moments: It seemed like a joyful angel

I don't get a glimpse of Werner Daum's smile last night when we broke up in the yard of Hotel”, writes Pedag of the European University of Tirana, Besian Zogaj, who accompanied the former German ambassador during his visit to our country. Daum's friend, in a reaction after the diplomat's separation from life, recalls his last moments with him. His exciting stories about Albania these days were a charm for all, the professor says.
His exciting <x0). Prof. Dr. Werner Daum was not a character whatsoever. He was literally an outstanding man. One of those people you meet once, never to forget. A moderate and inspiring intellectual, who will be honored eternally not only by the 3199 Albanians who took refuge and defended within the German diplomatic headquarters 35 years ago but by all those who were able to know and hear him. Above all, he is the undisputed protagonist of one of the most important turns in our modern history for which the Albanian state should express deep gratitude! ”, he wrote.
Full response:
Ambassador Werner Daum died in Albania that he loved so much and that I spent the last day of his happy and honorable life, as he deserved!

I was honored to know him 10 years ago, at the commemoration ceremony of the 25th anniversary of the fall of communism, organised then by the President's Institute, from where, as a true German, still preserved the anchor donated during that meeting even now. I became his friend and follower.
I'm in pain for him today as I can't stop looking at his smile last night when we broke up in the hotel yard, walking around with my purse and his jacket on my shoulder like a boy. He seemed like a joyful angel.
It was an honor to welcome him and to accompany him with much respect and love to have dear friends in his 4-day agenda with the European University of Tirana and Bashan Kavaja, who became his last trip to life.
Goodbye Ambassador and rest in peace. You'll be forgotten forever.
