Through a media communique, war-launched organisations, OVL KLA have reacted to procedural restrictions on the protection of indictees at the Special Court.
From the KLA's OVL, they said they react with deep concern over the latest court decisions in The Hague, which they say deeply violate the right to an equal and just defence.
“According to defence lawyers, the time for defence preparation has been drastically reduced, without warning and without hearing the defense statements, while the prosecution has had 10 years to prepare, the lawyers of the accused have been granted only 4 weeks. This shocking disproportion destroying any principle of balanced justice” is also written in their response.
They reiterated that this is no longer a process of international justice, but a structurally structured attack on the truth of the liberation war.
Also, the KLA's OVL has invited international institutions to restore procedural equality and respect fundamental defence rights. /Periscopi/
