This decision, taken by a higher judicial instance, according to the Union, represents a positive step towards respecting fundamental principles of justice, proportional and presumption of innocence, guaranteed with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the International Convention on Human Rights.
The Police's “Sindicate emphasises that it has always been and remains in support of legitimacy, transparency and professionalism, but also remembers that every police official has the right to be treated with dignity and justice, especially during the investigative process, where criminal responsibility has not yet been proven”, the Kosovo Police Union has said.
This Union expressed its full confidence in the justice system and called on all sides to respect the ongoing judicial process, without prejudice and carefully to the sensitivity of the case.
The Court of Appeals ruled that the Constitutional Court's act in Pristina, the branch in Lipjan, be changed and that the detention measure of five policemen in the Lipjan case was terminated.
The five police officers were arrested on July 7th after being suspected of “murders by the 27-year-old's” in Lipjan, Agon Zamenu.
