Police report on the first six months of the year: Lower crime, higher detection, and more effective border control

According to the official announcement, implementation of strategic targets and commitment of management and police officials has resulted in progress in all segments of public safety and strengthening of the rule of law. Despite numerous challenges, police have managed to lower the crime rate and significantly improve the detection of criminal cases.
Less Criminal Works, More Intelligence
A total of 23,125 cases have been recorded during this period, of which 12,769 are criminal acts, while the rest are perpetrators and cases of other natures. This represents a decline of 6.28% of criminal acts compared to the first six quarters of 2017 (from 13,266 to 12,769 cases). Moreover, transparency has marked 5.22% growth.
Among the most important works, police have noted:
Loss of theft (from 1,888 to 1,751, or -7.25%)
Loss of robbery (from 45 to 36, or -20%)
Loss of domestic violence (from 1,268 to 1,200, or -5.36%)
Light injuries have also scored -3.55%
Results in Investigations and Combating Criminal Groups
Police have intensified efforts in fighting organised criminal groups, pursuing and punishing criminal activities in areas such as narcotics, smuggling with migrants and goods, as well as trafficking in human beings.
More effective border control and circulation growth
During the reporting period, the borders of the Republic of Kosovo have been crossed by 14,291,186 people -- the figure that represents growth of 8.36% compared to the same period last year. Also, 4,624,528 vehicles have crossed borders .76%.
Border Police have tallied:

466 fines for migration and foreign
337 arrested for various works

Strengthening Traffic Safety
In the area of road traffic, 23 operational plans have been implemented, 43 sensationalising campaigns have been carried out, and technological equipment for security growth and accident prevention has improved.
International Co-operation: Successful Arrests and Extraditings
Through international communication channels such as INTERPOL and EUROOPOL, 10,885 international information has been exchanged, while it has been realized:
13 Arrests of International Wanted Persons
39 extraditions, out of them 15 from Kosovo to other states and 24 towards Kosovo
During this period, 283 police officials and 25 civilian staff have been employed. Police have organised 620 training for 5,339 participants, including areas such as cybercrime, counterterrorism, criminal investigations, and police. /Periscope/
