Police Director Confirms Police Commander's Resign in Lipjan after 27-year-old's death

Kosovo Police Director Gazmend Hoxha has confirmed for Radio Free Europe that he has approved the Police Commander's request for the Lipjan region, Silver Gashi, to resign from office, after the case reported earlier this week in this municipality, in which 27-year-old Agon Zajullahu died. [...]
“has applied for release and has been approved”, Hoxha said February in a written reply.
The five Kosovo Police officials, who have banned the deceased on July 7th, have been assigned the detention measure for a month, since they are suspected of conducting criminal work “murders by carelessness”.
The case has received considerable attention as from images distributed to social media, reportedly due to the case in Lipjan, the victim appears bound and on his knees, while then transported by self-announcement.
Police have said Zejrullahu allegedly was under the influence of alcohol and by attacking vehicles and passersby when it was banned by law authorities.
Protection of the defendants has said on July 9th, following the hearing that he does not believe suspended officials contributed or caused the death case.
Top state officials, including the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti and incumbent Interior Minister Jelal Svecla, have called for investigation and dawn of the case.
The family has declared that it is disappointed with the so-called lack of transparency by authorities.
The victim's brother, speaking of several media in Pristina on July 8th, said family members have not received any clarification from the police, while the body of the deceased “has had many signs and breaking”.
Members of civil society have expressed concern about the way police managed the case in Lipjan.
They have questioned whether the officers involved have had sufficient training, as their training in Kosovo has been reduced from six to three months.
Experts estimate that this short period of training is not enough to cope with complex situations on the ground.
