Police beat in Kline is ordered to serve prison sentences, lawyer raises suspicion of co-ordination cases

Driton Krasniqi, who was beaten by police in his backyard in Cline in late June, has been ordered to serve a six-month prison sentence, on the basis of an indictment of April 16th 2025. His lawyer, Alban Krasniqi, has confirmed this through a media communiqué. [...]
According to the lawyer, Driton Krasniqi himself claims he has not been informed of this act before and that it has not been made clear to him what work he has been convicted of. He has raised reasonable doubts about whether this case has links to public reporting police violence against his client.
In the quality of Mr. Driton Krasniqi, we feel a professional obligation to inform public opinion of some disturbing developments affecting our client's legal rights and health. On June 28, 2025, Mr. Krasniqi was the victim of documented police violence in his backyard a publicised event, which has been initiated by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate. Twelve days later, on July 10th 2025, he has accepted a warrant for serving a six-month prison sentence under a conviction issued on 16 April 2025. Mr. Krasniqi claims he has not been informed of this decision and has raised serious concerns about the regularity of the criminal process that has led to this sentence of”, the lawyer's statement said.
Lawyer Alban Krasniqi has declared he has taken four concrete actions in connection with the case. He has filed a request to postpone the execution of the sentence, based on his client's burdened health and psychological state as a result of the violence experienced, as well as on allegations of lack of notice and legal representation during the procedure that has ended with condemnation. Also, he has sought access to all judicial documentation, contacted the prosecution concerning Krasniqi's interrogation procedure in the case of police violence, and announced the ombudsman's case.
Because of these developments, our client's emotional and health condition has been severely charged. We will continue to follow all legal means to protect Mr. Krasniqi and to ensure a fair and legal process”, the lawyer has declared.
Meanwhile, on July 2nd 2025, the Foundation Court in Pec, the branch in Cline, appointed the month-long detention measure to a police officer suspected of involvement in Krasniqi's beating, while two other police officials were pronounced house arrest measures. According to the prosecution, the three officers are suspected of criminal activity “mishandling during the exercise of official task”. /Periscope/
