Police attorneys on the rise, over 1,000 and 300 surrendered last year

During the first half of this year, hundreds of complaints of disciplinary violations were filed in the Police Inspectorate. Last year, their number reached a thousand and 338.
Many of these cases involve criminal offenses, bodily injury, or physical assault.
Police officers involved are usually suspended, sometimes arrested or transferred to other positions within the institution. But these measures do not seem to have had enough impact, as the number of complaints has steadily increased since 2020, reports the REL.
Most complaints have been addressed to Pristina Regional Directorate officials.
The most recent case that has turned its attention to police behavior is the death of a 27-year-old in Lipjan on July 7th. Five police officers have been arrested in carelessness, while a month-long detention measure has been imposed today./Periscopi/
