Two people have lost their lives in Italy as a result of extreme weather conditions, while an intense heat wave has swept through most of Europe.
A 47-year-old man passed away in Bologna after he got sick during his work at a construction site. Cgil Blogna and Fillea-Cgil trade unions have called for urgent measures to protect workers exposed to extreme temperatures, stressing that the climate crisis is significantly exacerbating working conditions in open environments.
Meanwhile, in Bardonecchia, near Turin, a 70-year-old lost his life after being involved in an immediate flood. According to local media reports, he drowned after being swept out of the water after leaving his car.
Local authorities are on alert because of the extreme weather conditions predicted to continue in the coming days. /Periscope/
