Peci's root goes out for the weather bread: Last year, it declared another figure, now says something else about wheat - sown areas

Acting Agriculture Minister Faton Peci has declared that this year it has been set record for wheat-planted areas. That is what he said last year, boasting that the sister's bread has been provided. But according to data in 2024, there was a decline of acres planted with wheat compared to the year [...]
Contradictative figures of wheat crops over the years have declared incumbent Agriculture Minister Faton Peci.
On Tuesday, at the start of the harvesting campaign as he boasted of setting up the new record in agriculture, he said this year it has been marked the rise of wheat-fields by 40 percent compared to the previous year.
This year we have a new record: 40% is the growth of wheat surfaces compared to 2024, or over 21,500 hectares more. From 53 thousand acres [35,000 ha] planted in 2024, we have reached as many as 75,000 acres [75 thousand ha] this year. All of this thanks to institutional support, government engagement, fighting crime and corruption, installing meritocracy and doing the great will of our farmers”, Peci said.
That there are records of wheat - surface crops said in July last year, although figures presented the day before 2024 are smaller than in 2023.
Kosovo for the first time, I've said it, and I'm reinflammating it and arguing as scientifically as you wish, which has covered the need for the weather bread. For the first time in history, Prime Minister. Congratulations. Last year, we had 60 percent growth, now we have 63-64 percent from the time we received the government's command mandate”, Peci stated.
And in September 2024, he declared that 64 thousand acres [64 thousand ha] of wheat were planted - 10,000 more than he introduced the day before.
“This year, Kosovo's blessed land marked the biggest record in the history of wheat production, providing the engine bread. This was accomplished thanks to the diligent work of our farmers, the rise in government support to 275 percent, and favourable climate conditions. About 64 thousand hectare are wheat crops for this year alone”, Peci noted.
Based on them, in 2024 only 2 thousand hectares were planted more than in 2022, when Minister Peci said 51,282 hectares were planted.
There's a disagreement with the official data the Ministry of Agriculture published in the Green Reports. According to them, the grain-progressed surfaces in 2023 were only two percent larger compared to those in 2010, although direct payments to this culture were 9-fold.
According to a 2024 Green Draft report report that has not yet been published by the Ministry of Agriculture, 80 thousand hectares of wheat were planted in 2023, and productivity was 303 thousand tons.
In the meantime, over 96 thousand tonnes of wheat have been imported, even as in cultivating this agricultural culture, the state invested over 16m euros during 2023.
The wheat imports remain at the same level as the year 2021, although the stimulating measures for farmers who cultivate this culture are 387 percent higher.
