On Thursday, The PDK confirmed that it has submitted the official requirement for assessing the constitutionality of the actions taken in the last three sessions of the Parliament.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo has submitted to the Constitutional Court the formal requirement for assessing the constitutionality of the actions undertaken during the Kosovo Parliament's constitutional session held on 29 June and its continuation on July 1st and 3rd 2025, namely, of the hearings held after the Constitutional Court Act.
Summary:
Requesting secret voting commission members' proposals;
Vote this Commission;
Commission vote itself;
The arbitrary suspension of the session after the suspension of the <x0 Commission is said to be in response to this party.
The PDK, which came in second in the parliamentary elections, has called on the Constitution to declare the decision of the Commission's vote on secret vote, as well as the decision to cut off the constitutional session, and to order the Parliament to continue this session until the election of the Parliament Speaker through open voting.
The LDK, which on Friday submitted a separate request to the Constitutional through which it opposes the continuation of the constitutional hearing following the court's plea.
In our assessment, this decision has been taken contrary to the Constitution and the Framework Rule of the Parliament.
Constitution of the Assembly bodies is the responsibility of the largest parliamentary group, which must act responsibly, in co-operation with other political subjects, and in line with constitutional order and parliamentary procedures.
The institutional stalemate is not resolved by unilateral actions, but with dialogue, respect for the Constitution and political consensus”, said the party's official, Rock Manaj.
We note that last week, the Constitutional Court ruled after the opposition's request for clarification regarding the secret vote, where, among other things, the political subjects have been forced to constitutionalise the Parliament within 30 days, though it has not been clarified what happens after this deadline if reconciliation is not achieved again.
Even at Thursday's session there was no progress, as the Vetevendosje Movement for the third time refused to implement the Constitutional Court's Act. /Periscope/
