Kosovo's Economic Oda (OEK) has been addressed today with a public request to Republika President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Energy Regulatory Office Board Chairman Ymer Fejzullahu, calling for the immediate suspension of the ZRR's decision to boost the energy price for production businesses. In the letter signed by OEK Chairman Lulzim Rafuna, notes that this is the last “sincere and responsible” to prevent an action that, according to him, is seriously damaging Kosovo's economy, forcing production businesses out of the free energy market, follows Periscope.

According to OEK, this situation is bringing major economic consequences, including the risk of closing factories, losing thousands of jobs and destroying local production.
The Association of Producers of Kosovo, based on research with major sectors companies, has recorded three main effects of energy price growth:
- The cost of energy for industry has increased on average three times compared to 2024.
- In some industries, the impact on operational expenditures has reached 44%, enabling normal production to continue.
- In the construction sector alone, the cost has increased over 5.6m euros, while in the food industry, over 1.7m euros.
OEK warns that, at the same time, unfair competition is under way in the market, as some companies have returned to the regular market through the suspension of the decision by courts, while others remain pending judicial decisions.
The “are dozens of decisions by the Commercial Court that confirm legal violations during the implementation of this process”, as OEK's letter states, while underlining that implementing the verdict contrary to judicial rulings constitutes violations of the law and constitutional principles.
Through this call, OEK requires state institutions to show responsibility and take immediate steps to protect productive businesses and public interest.
“It is time to show responsibility to Kosovo citizens and businesses”, the letter to the country's highest authorities concludes.
