The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has deteriorated greatly, particularly hitting children. According to the United Nations, one in five children in this area is malnourished, while more than 100 people, mostly children, have died of starvation since the beginning of 2025.
Philip Lazcarin, the United Nations Agency for Support and Refugees Works of Palestine (UNRWA), describes the situation as a full humanitarian “He adds that most children who go on for treatment are very weak and at great risk to life if they do not get urgent help.
Humanitarian assistants working on the ground, including UNRWA staff, often survive with only one small meal a day, mostly pieces of food, and experience serious weaknesses due to food shortages.
