Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not testify next week in the criminal trial against him due to an official visit to the United States. Postponing testimony was requested by his defence team and approved by the prosecution, currently located in the prime minister's interrogation phase.
However, the prosecution called for adding days of trial to compensate for the delay, given that Israeli courts will enter summer vacation from July 21st to September 5th. Under the court's earlier ruling, Netanyah would testify on July 21st and 22nd, but these dates are now in question, Euronews.al reports, Periscope broadcast.
Netanyah is expected to travel to Washington on Sunday and return at the end of the week. During the visit, he plans meetings with a series of senior American officials, including President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State, National Security Adviser Marco Rubio, as well as envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and representatives of the US Senate and Congress.
Netanyah is facing charges of corruption, fraud and abuse of public trust, in a court process that has lasted several years and dominated the Israeli political scene. /Periscopi/
