Speaking to reporters at the start of a dinner between American and Israeli officials, Netanyah said the United States and Israel were working with other countries that would give Palestinians a better <x0nds of future”, suggesting that Gaza residents could move to neighbouring countries.
“If people want to stay, they can stay, but if they want to leave, they should be able to leave”, Netanyah said.
“We are working very closely with the United States to find countries that will seek to accomplish what they always say, that they wanted to give Palestinians a better future. I think we're getting closer to finding some”.
Trump, who initially opposed Netanyah when asked about the Palestinians' shift, said countries around Israel were helping. We have had excellent co-operation from... surrounding countries, excellent co-operation from each of them. So something good is going to happen”, Trump said.
The American president earlier this year introduced the shift of Palestinians and taking Gaza's Belt to convert it to “Middle Eastern Revolution”.
Gaza residents criticised the proposal and vowed never to leave their homes in the coastal enclave. Human rights groups condemned the plan as ethnic cleansing.
Trump and Netanyahu met for several hours in Washington, while Israeli officials continued indirect negotiations with Hamas aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza and an agreement on the release of US-brokered hostages.
Netanyah returned to the guest house Blair House late Monday, where he will meet with vice president JD Vance today, Reuters reports, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
Netanyah's visit comes after Trump's prediction, on the eve of their meeting, that such an agreement could be reached this week. Before heading to Washington, the right-wing Israeli leader said his discussions with Trump could help advance negotiations that are under way in Qatar between Israel and the Palestinian militant group.
