According to information the ministry has provided, Lulzim Halili has been detained by Serbian authorities in the vicinity of the town of Svilajnac, about 100km from Belgrade and has been sent immediately to the maintenance at the town's Police Station.
The ministry has said further that the Liaison Office has attempted to confirm the arrest through contact with the Svilajnac Police Station around 11: 00 p.m. on the 22 July evening, but the guardian police official has refused to provide details on the case.
“Today, on July 23rd 2025, the liaison office has addressed an official request to the Government of Serbia, through Serbia's Interconnecting Office in Kosovo, and with parallel notice for the European Union Delegation to Serbia, to officially confirm the arrest and receive additional information on the case. So far, we have not received answers from the Serbian side”, the MPJ report said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore reports that the Interconnecting Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia has been announced on the evening of July 22nd 2025 for the arrest of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. Lulzim Halili.
According to accepted information, Mr. Halili has been detained by Serbian authorities in the vicinity of the town of Svilajnac, about 100km from Belgrade, and has been immediately taken to the hold at the town's Police Station.
The liaison office has attempted to confirm the arrest through contact with the Svilajnac Police Station around 11:00 last night, but the custody police official has refused to provide details about the case.
Today, on July 23rd 2025, the Liaison Office has addressed an official request to the Government of Serbia, through Serbia's Liaison Office in Kosovo, and with parallel notice for the European Union Delegation in Serbia to officially confirm the arrest and receive additional information on the case. So far, we have not received answers from the Serbian side.
Also, the Liaison Office has announced diplomatic missions of the Serbia-accredited Quint countries, as well as the European Union Delegation, on this occasion.
As soon as it's confirmed if Mr. Halili will undergo the detention measure and criminal procedure will be initiated against him, the Liaison Office will submit official request for a visit to the Preservation Centre.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore calls on all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to avoid travel and transit crossings through Serbia's territory, due to the increased risk of bans and arbitrary arrests by Serbian authorities.
