Pristina University Steering Council Chairman Altin Sahiti has announced his irrevocable resignation from this position.
Sahiti was named in 17.09.2021 in the position of chair of the UPI Steering Council by Education Minister Arberie Nagavci.
For the period ahead until October 1st, Sahiti has invited the Ministry of Education to select new members for the UPI Steering Council.
I started it as a substitute and then three years as Headmaster, which made me the youngest in university history and with the greatest extension of my mandate. Along with our colleagues, we began to move important issues, to promote changes. But for reasons we often didn't understand, some things were blocked from inside, and at times we felt manipulated or malpractice” he wrote Sahiti on Facebook on 21.07.2025.
During the time he led the UPI Steering Council, the new UPP statue was adopted. Here he praised UP management by the former Qerim Rector.
“Today we have a modern statue, new regulations with ethical principles for governing troops, effective budget management mechanisms and administration management, and a substantial increase in financial support for students, professors, institutes, conferences and research projects. ” has added Sahiti.
Among the successes achieved by UP Sahiti, he has mentioned that they have for the first time shared scholarships for master and doctor's studies.
According to him, a new climate of work has been created in the facility of the Rectorate ʹ a place that, as he put it, was once viewed as a witch hunting building, and today operates with professionalism and integrity.
Today, I'm leaving a white-page UP with integrity, just like I started. I have a lot to thank, but I have to thank him for the opportunity of Minister of Education. Arberie Nagavci, of whom we were not even known before I was appointed, but that her good purpose, clean to the University, made my appointment possible, left me completely independent on the journey, and yes, today we have come together to have a different university mirror. ” said Sahiti.
And that I will always remember with pride and gratitude. With the integrity I entered, I'm leaving, hoping that the steps we've taken together serve as a foundation for an even brighter future.
Steering Council UP's is the university's main governing body, which consists of nine members with a fair vote. /Periscopi/
