State Day is marked to remember July 13th, 1878, when Montenegro at the Berlin Congress was accepted as an independent state, as well as July 13, 1941, when the Montenegrin people began the uprising against Fascism.
In the referendum, held on May 21st 2006, 55.5 per cent of citizens who have emerged in the referendum have voiced their independence for Montenegro.
Montenegro's independence was announced on June 3rd, while on June 28th of that year Montenegro became a 192th member of the United Nations, while on May 11th 2007 a member of the Council of Europe, while last year it was accepted into NATO./Periscopi/
