EU Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath has expressed shock at the toxicity and dangers of some goods sold by Chinese platforms, Shane and Temu.
He has pledged to take tough measures against openly violating goods, with 12 million packages going into the EU every day.
McGrath says he is awaiting the immediate results of a secret shopping operation across the EU to further test the evidence already gathered that Chinese retail vendors are bypassing EU laws.
Among the worst examples McGrath faced were the easy - falling baby biberonas, which pose a risk of drowning because they didn't have the size hole arranged to enable a baby that swallowed an accident, writes The Guardian, broadcast Klankosova. tv
Other goods cited by Eurodeputs in a report published this month include muspa for children with toxic chemicals, filterless sunglasses UV and child shorts with longer connections than the length of the regulations that cause danger.
They also found cosmetic products containing metropronial porilphenil, also known as Lilal, which is listed as a chemical with <x0). Last year, the United Kingdom government told consumers to drop any product containing the ingredient.
“I'm shocked by this and I think we have an obligation to protect European consumers”, McGrath said to Guardian, broadcast Klankosova. tv
Last year, Safety Gates received a record 4,137 alarms, where more than a third were linked to cosmetics in front of toys, electrical equipment, automotive, and chemical products. /Periscopi/
