35 V LIFE STORY FROM DEATH WHOTEW ESEE 2 JULY 4
Today, we mark the 35th anniversary of the declaration of the Constitutional Declaration of July 2, 1990, the historic act that laid the legal and political foundations of Kosovo's citizenship. Under extremely difficult circumstances, under military siege and severe pressure from the Serbian regime, 114 delegates to the then Kosovo Assembly declared Kosovo an equal and independent entity within the federation of that time, clearly expressing the people's will for freedom, independence and democracy.
This courageous act, which challenged the oppressive system and gave voice to the current aspirations for freedom, turned into starting a new road to Kosovo; the path towards full independence, democracy and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Kosovo's nationwide movement, driven by Kosovo Historical President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, unified the people around this cause, established the legal and institutional foundations of citizenship, and won the support of the democratic world. These efforts were followed by the Kosovo people's war of liberation and decisive intervention by NATO, which eventually brought freedom to Kosovo.
On this marked day, we express our deepest gratitude to the delegates on July 2nd and to all those who contributed to Kosovo's journey towards freedom, independence and democracy. We honor all martyrs, heroes, the fallen and political prisoners, who sacrificed everything for a free, independent and democratic Kosovo.
The July 2nd declaration remains an invincible cornerstone in the construction of our state, a turning point in Kosovo's modern history and a clear testimony of our aspirin to become part of the Euro-Atlantic family, integrated into NATO, the European Union, and in permanent friendship with the United States. /Periscopi/
