Rahovec Mayor Smajl Latifi points out the concrete consequences to local governance because of the political stalemate at the central level.
He in an interview for Online Economy said the lack of new institutions has direct impact on the work of municipalities.
This affects both Kosovo municipalities and our municipality. Above all, a non-constitutiond state, with no full-powered government, is a huge damage to the state's interest, as in relation to municipalities, with developments, in real life, but also in external relations. It's a very bad mirror if our country's five months after the elections has no place and there's a government that we don't know whether it's government in office or is in resignation. It is a vague situation, which burdens Kosovo with additional problems, therefore even municipalities”, Latifi said.
He added that the lack of the Assembly and a functional government has left municipalities without a clear address, creating confusion even in the most basic administrative and budgetary issues.
We have a problem. The state is without institutions that have had to be established as a result of elections. There are also consequences in design. There are delays. There are no functional relations between municipalities and the government, because there is no address. We have deputy ministers, but since the House Constitution Process has been delayed, these delays are harmful even to our municipality, because you have no address to whom to get to know”, Latifi said.
He added that citizens should distinguish between municipal work and central impasses, inviting them to vote for concrete projects in October 12th local elections.
Latifi accused Vetevendosje Movement of procrastinating the process of forming institutions and considered it sufficient reason that, according to him, this party will not be supported either at the central level or at the local level.
Kosovo's “citizens are precisely aware of the date of local elections, which is October 12th of this year. The CEC and municipal election commissions in each municipality are functional and active, with their dynamics and deadlines. The citizen has the right to revolt, but not in the municipality, because it's working in the municipality. We work hard in our municipality. We invite citizens to vote for projects that are successful. If they have reason to revolt, let them revolt with the party that is first in parliamentary elections, let them revolt in Vetevendosje for itself because it has a constitutional obligation to make concrete steps and actions to conform institutions, but in fact have become blockative of the process of forming” institutions, Latifi told EO. /Periscope.
