Nearly 12.8m euros of taxpayers, last year went into the pockets of private companies, which leased their facilities for public institutions' use, Periscope.
Spending on access to public officials within a decade has increased by 66 percent. In 2014, 7.7m euros had been spent from the state budget, and in 2024 that figure amounted to nearly 13 million.
The growth trend took off in 2019, when 10.4m euros were spent.
That year, Albin Kurti, still in opposition, had promised that with the coming of power no public institution would exploit private objects, Time.net reports.
The new government has a priority over reducing government spending. We will begin with the target that no public institution is placed in private objects. This means that we cannot allow staff relocations in buildings just to meet the luxury flats of individuals assigned to political nomenclature, nor the need for illegal benefits of owners of certain private objects”, Kurti said on November 23, 2019.
But during its rule, the rent expenditures of public institutions increased for 2.3m euros.
KOHA has been requesting information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs about which institutions are located in private objects and whether there is a plan to accommodate them in public, but there is no response.
Two months ago at the rental facility the Special Chamber of the Supreme Court has moved.
The leased space has a surface of 1,000 m2, and the monthly sum of the rent is 10,500 euros. The contract has been signed for a period of two years. The location where the Supreme Court's Special Chamber is located is located in the neighborhood “Pejton”. We haven't had any other public spaces to accommodate and the need of the court”, says the Supreme Court's announcement.
The National Audition Office is also at the rented facility. The institution since 2018 paid 18 thousand and 500 euros a month for rent of 3,105 square metres.
From this institution, they have announced that solutions have recently been made and are expected to be placed in the spaces of the “ish-Resurrevience” complex.
The ongoing National Audition Office has made requests to institutions responsible for resolving the object issue. After a long period of operation on private objects, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MPB), according to decision No. 187/2025 of the date 05.02.2025 has divided the necessary space for the National Audition Office (ZKA) at the former real estate “complex, to enable the realisation of specific functions with the Constitution and law”, it is said at the announcement of the National Audition Office.
But the solution has not been made to the Ministry of Agriculture. From this dictatorship, the latest of April 28, 2025, are said to have put on several requirements.

About 300 thousand euros a year for rent also paid the Agency for Comparison and Verification. The same private building includes the Health Insurance Fund, for which an estimated 160 thousand euros is paid annually.
In 2023 the cost of rents for public institutions was 11 million and 495 thousand euros.
