Pristina, July 17th 2025 Kosovo Customs Antichromic Units at the Vmica Border Point have successfully implemented an operational plan aimed at preventing goods smuggling. During this operation, it has been identified and preventing a attempted smuggling of allegedly counterfeit goods, namely, sports underwear with protected brands.
Following the discovery of this case, Kosovo Customs investigators, who, in co-ordination with the competent Prosecution, have undertaken all necessary investigative actions. The investigative actions have provided sufficient evidence proving that the customs official, during the exercise of office, has failed to fulfil legal obligations, enabling the entry of these goods into Kosovo territory without control and avoiding paying customs duties.
By order of the State Attorney, after completing the investigation procedures and interviewing suspected persons, they have been detained for 48 hours:
- Customs Official for Criminal Work “Use of Official Task”,
- Transport vehicle driver for criminal acts “Avoid paying customs duties”.
Kosovo's customs reaffirms its full commitment to strengthening rule of law, protection of the internal market and the integrity of the institution, prosecuting all cases of incumbent abuse and illegal activities that undermine the country's economy.
