Kosovo businesses start taking power figures, more than 100% more expensive than in 2024

Some businesses have started to accept electricity spending bills for June of this year, after two months' delay. One of the businesses that accepted the June 2025 most expensive minimum 100 per cent bill compared to the same period in the preceding year is the company “Elkos”. Company owner “Elkos”, Ramiz [...]

Company owner “Elkos” Ramiz Kelmendi told Kosovo that today they have accepted the June bill worth 346 thousand euros. He stresses that the June 2024 bill has been 166 thousand euros. According to him, this cost has caused an increase in the price of products and services 10 to 30 percent.

According to him, this rise in the electricity price has seriously damaged Kosovo's economy.

We got our bill last year, 166 thousand bills... June 2025, 346 thousand... We can't work, but since you have to transfer to the citizen, then this money is about 200 million extra is going to come up with all the citizens on the price burden they have to create. For example, you're going to go by name to a restaurant, it's going to be more expensive now, everything more expensive... something up to 10 percent, something more, these things that are produced in Kosovo goes up to 30 percent... it's something that persecutes the economy, breaks off, especially in relation to competition from neighbouring countries that have the price of cheaper targeting than us, Kelmendi said.

Likewise, another producer in the country, Shacir Palushi has accepted the latest June bill for at least 100 per cent of the most expensive.

While, according to the business community, ZERE decisions endanger the massive evacuation of thousands of workers, reduced production and increased import.

Businesses have repeatedly protested in Pristina to challenge the ZERE decision, which they believe causes heavy burdens to local companies and Kosovo's economy reports Kosovapress, Periscope
