The Kosovo Business Connection raises alarm: Critical Status of stonebreakers and concrete companies

The Kosovo Business Connection has expressed deep concern about the situation in which the mining sector is located in the country, especially the stonebreaker companies and those operating in concrete production.

According to the LBK, numerous institutional barriers are seriously jeopardising the functioning and existence of these companies, which are important to the local economy.

According to the Kosovo Business League, the main reasons for the crisis include:

-Disfunction of relevant boards and departments, which cannot issue permits and documents necessary for legal operation;

-Missing the possibility of paying these mine rents, unlike extenuating practices in other sectors;

-The lack of general electronic reporting platforms, which negatively affect operational transparency and efficiency;

-Centres blocked on the Board of Mines, untreated for months;

- Procrastination in the adoption of Administrative Guidance for the rental of forest lands, which prevents legal exploitation of public property;

- Unjustified victims from municipal and central institutions, both in granting consent and in continuing existing projects.

According to LBK, the situation is critical. In their response, companies reportedly invested millions of euros in heavy equipment, are exposed to bank loans, and many are on the verge of bankruptcy. Any further delay according to them deepens the crisis, jeopardising:

Work places;

The state budgetary revenues;
