At the opening of the Western Balkans Summit with the European Union for the Growth Plan in Skopje, Kos also spoke of Kosovo and the need for the formation of the new government.
She referred to incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti as spending much energy on the European integration process and that new institutions are now needed after the February 9th parliamentary elections.
On the other hand, Kos praised Albania, saying it has made visible developments in opening chapters for EU membership.
“has a consensus for additional expansion in the future, not so in the past. You have the chance that it should definitely be exploited because this will not last forever and I see visible development. Albania, honoured Mr Rama, opened three chapters in the last three months and thank you for impacting the enlargement process and if we continue this way we will open all chapters this year. Montenegro closed a chapter Friday. Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the reform agenda, meanwhile, we expect the new government to be established in Kosovo. Mr. Kurti you've spent a lot of energy on the accession process. In Serbia, I hope we can go further, but this is the process of enlargement”, she said.
Kos, speaking of the EU Growth Plan for the six Western Balkan countries, said he expects implementation of reforms to receive union funds.
The growth plan is a new framework of the EU for accelerating reforms for European integration across the region, which combines reforms with direct financial contributions from EU funds to the budgets of profitable countries and investment projects.
With the implementation of these reforms, Kosovo will benefit up to 882.6m euros in EU funds. Of this total amount, 253.3m euros are grants, while the rest of the 629.3m euros are long-term loans.
We're here to help you and we want to reward you for the work you've done so far. We can give them tools when you implement reforms. So from tangible development before our next leadership meeting. We will pay the first round of reporting and the funds will be 50 per cent and will go into the negotiating framework for the Western Balkans. These will help you build roads, railways, solar parks and digital infrastructure. This needs every competitive economy. Development and growth are in your hands”, she stressed.
Source of pre-finance means for Kosovo worth 61m euros under the EU Growth Plan is related to the adoption of two international agreements in the Assembly, which, due to the inability of the ninth legislature's constitutionalised condition, cannot now occur. /Periscope/
