She added that she remains committed to the commitment to help elect the Democrats and will soon share her plans for the future.
Harris' decision comes after her defeat in the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump, and has rekindled speculations of a possible return to the White House race in 2028. It did not rule out this possibility, suggesting it is still part of the national political scene.
Its adviser, Sean Cleggg, confirmed that Harris has considered other options, including the creation of an organisation intended to engage young voters, as part of its efforts to influence politically outside official institutions.
Although considered a strong candidate for governor, thanks to her extensive experience in California politics and the federal level, Harris seems to have chosen to influence differently. Fans known as Katie Porter, Antonio Villaraigos and Xavier Becherra have already entered the mayoral race.
