Israel expands offensive in Gaza

Israeli Army spokesman Avichay Adriee said at X that displaced residents and Palestinians, who are taking refuge in the Deir el-Balah area, should be evacuated immediately.
Israel has “expanded activities” around Deir el-Balah, including “in an area that has not operated before”, Adriee said, asking Palestinians “to leave south in the Al-Mavasi” area.
Most of Gaza's population over 2 million people have moved at least once during the war now in the 22nd month, and Israel has repeatedly issued orders to evacuate large parts of Palestinian territory.
In January, United Nations humanitarian agency, O CHA, said more than 80 percent of Gaza's Belt was under orders for Israel's evacuation.
The families of the hostages held in Gaza since Hamas on October 7th 2023 attacked Israel that sparked the war have expressed fears that expanding the Israeli offensive could put their loved ones at risk.
They have demanded that Israel show combat plans and how it aims to protect the hostages in Gaza.
On Sunday, meanwhile, the Agency for Civil Protection in Gaza told AFP that Israeli attacks at night have left at least seven people killed in Gaza City and in southern parts of the territory.
Delegations from Israel and Hamas in the past two weeks have held indirect talks on a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza and the release of ten hostages still alive.
Of the 251 hostages that were taken away on October 7th 2023, 49 are still being held in Gaza, including 27 which the Israeli army says have died.
Hostages gathered at Tel Aviv on Saturday, calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and US President Donald Trump to reach agreement to release the hostages and end the war.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Army said through a statement it has intensified operations in the Jabalia area in northern Gaza, killing “the terrorist “and destroying the “100th of terrorist infrastructure”.
Because of Hamas ' attack in Israel, about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed. Meanwhile, as a result of Israeli offensive, more than 58,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, most civilians, according to the Ministry of Health in the Palestinian enclave. / REL/ Periscopi/
