IPK recommends suspension for an alleged police official of abuse of official position or authority
Pristina/ Prizren, July 25, 2025
Based on legal authorisations, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate has recommended today the suspension of a police official who was committed to the Vermica Border Cross, under the West Border Police Regional Directorate ão Gjakova.
IPK investigators have launched a probe into the suspicion that the same has committed the criminal act of “misusing official position or authority”, while after consultations with the Foundation Prosecutor in Prizren the case will be handled in regular procedure.
Based on initial investigative actions, the police official allegedly using the border police database unauthorizedly has verified in the system the data of a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo.
The citizen has not been present at this border crossing point, while the allegations are that the police official has made this verification to prove whether the citizen was in search of police.
IPK investigators in co-ordination with the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren will take other investigative actions to illuminate all the circumstances in this case.
With respect;
Department for Co-operation and Information
Kosovo Police Inspectorate
