One of the accused, a 36-year-old of Kosovo citizenship, has allegedly been responsible for the Swiss branch of an extremist Islamist organisation originating from Kosovo.
According to the official announcement, the two indictees, including a 33-year-old with Swiss and Northern Macedonia dual citizenship, allegedly not only supported the Islamic State, but also spread its extremist ideology.
The group in question, inspired by Salafist-jahadis, aimed at recruiting new followers and benefiting from Kosovo's destabilisation to create a territory controlled by Sheriati, in the name of ISIS.
Since June 2025, the 36-year-old Kosovar allegedly was appointed head of the Swiss branch of this organisation.
Recruits in Geneva, financing activities in Kosovo
Investigations show that the group's leader has recruited new members, mainly in the Geneva region, with the help of the second defendants.
They have also raised funds in Switzerland, which they later transferred to Kosovo to finance the activities of the terrorist organisation.
The prosecution suspects that this money has also been used to corrupt foreign officials, with the aim of avoiding prosecution against some members of the group.
Organized with foreign preachers and terrorist propaganda
The 36-year-old Kosovo reportedly had a leading role even within the organisation in Kosovo itself, serving as the bridge between leadership in its native country and branch in Geneva.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old allegedly attended group meetings, made his residence for organisation activities available, and organised visits by foreign preachers attending the ISIS ideology.
He is also accused of spreading propaganda in favour of terrorist organisations. SIS and Front Al-Nusra, through the distribution of materials that praise these groups.
Investigations continue and indictees are expected to face justice in a judicial process in Switzerland. /Periscope/
