A two-seat private plane crashed on the A21 highway outside the northern Italian town of Brescia , killing two people on board, a lawyer from Milan and his partner.

After the crash, the plane exploded and was swept into flames in the middle of the highway. Many drivers managed to pass their cars almost through flames. Three people were injured and taken to the hospital, but their lives are not at risk, authorities said.

Investigators have still not been able to determine whether this tragic incident was due to the loss of feelings from the pilot or a mechanical defect./Periscopi/
