Hamas has announced there is a positive “response to a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, paving the way for an agreement to end the conflict after months of failed efforts.
“CNN” quotes a Hamas communiqué where, among other things, it says:
“We have submitted a positive response to the mediator, and the movement is fully ready to enter a round of negotiations for the implementation mechanism of this framework. ”
Israel had earlier accepted the US-sponsored framework, which means the two sides are now expected to enter final and detailed negotiations before a ceasefire agreement is officially reached.
Of the 50 Israeli hostages still in Gaza, the proposal envisions the release of 10 living hostages and 18 dead during the ceasefire period. On the first day of the ceasefire, Hamas will release eight living hostages in exchange for an indefinite number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees. After this release, Israel will withdraw from certain areas north of Gaza, and both sides will start negotiations towards a permanent ceasefire.
Release the hostages will be made without ceremony or public manifestations by Hamas. The remaining hostages will be released in the next four date scheduled for the proposal. /Periscope/
