O Chairman VL-KLA, Hysni Gucati, has reacted sharply after declaring the act of prejudice against Peter Shala, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison by Specialised Chambers in The Hague. Gucati has called the decision politically motivated, saying it has been made to please Serbia and damage the KLA's reputation.
The decision is political, not well received. It's only meant to satisfy Serbia's desires. The 13 years for Peter Shala are a great injustice,” has declared Gucati.
He has questioned the credibility of witnesses involved in the judicial process, saying one of them has claimed to have recognised Shala from a distance of 30 metres simply because he had seen her put her hand on a wall.
How can you recognize a man from 30 meters away? That witness didn't tell the truth. This is how cases of accomplices and liars are being built. The decision is unacceptable to us,” he said.
Gucati stressed that they have no faith in the justice of this court, which according to him is following and judging the KLA soldiers unjustly. He warned that tomorrow they will visit The Hague, though they do not expect any major change in the decision.
“There is no possibility that the indictment will be rejected or punishment reduced, but the good of the good would be for this court to work properly and not to rely on lying people,” concluded Gucati.
It cautioned that they have always opposed witness lists and how cases related to the KLA war are being handled./Periscopi/
