She made comments on Radio Free Europe's question if she is aware of any such threat that existed recently.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said last week that US President Donald Trump has prevented the possibility of a possible escalation of the situation from Serbia to Kosovo, stressing that “is being used for very, very late-term developments.
Her statement prompted Trump's response to special missions, Richard Green, who accused him of manipulating the president's words.
“Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on peace and economic normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia in 2019 and 2020 through the Washington Agreement. Osman was not part of that deal. The claim that something new has happened is absurd,” wrote Green on X.
Osman's statements also dismissed Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.
Free Europe Radio contacted the White House for additional clarifications, but received no answers.
What did Trump say?
US President Donald Trump wrote on the Social Truth network on 15 June that during his first presidential mandate, Kosovo and Serbia were going towards a serious conflict” and that the war was on the verge of the explosion, but that he stopped it.
Then, at a media conference at the White House on 29 June, he said that, in recent months, the US has banned or prevented conflicts between some parties, including Serbia and Kosovo.
Serbia, you know, was preparing for war, with a group that I will not even mention, because it did not happen”, Trump said, adding that the threat of suspension of trade had worked on its prevention.
Then, on July 9th, he reiterated: “I have managed to solve many situations, such as that with India and Pakistan, Kosovo and Serbia. I said, will you fight? We're not gonna trade. And it seems that this has been quite successful”.
Trump cited the case of Kosovo and Serbia even during a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte on 14 July at the White House.
Osman's team warned that the president would hold a media conference, but did not specify it any more.
The incumbent Kosovo government and the acting Ministry of Internal Affairs did not answer the question of what kind of escalation of the situation was being asked. /Periscope/
