Nighttime fires in forested mountains around the Stock Exchange in northwestern Turkey spread rapidly, bringing “a red glow of” into the night sky above the eastern suburbs of the city.
The Office of the Bursa governor said in a statement Sunday that 1,765 people were safely evacuated from villages in the northeast, while more than 1,100 firefighters fought the flames.
