Once again, the beginning of evidence of special protection witnesses is postponed

Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague have announced they have approved the defence requirement for delaying the start of witness testimony. Initially, the hearings were scheduled to begin in July -- later postponed for August -- and now at the request of defence -- they are scheduled to begin in September. Lawyer Taulant Hodaj said [...]
Lawyer Taulant Hodaj said the defence has had to be prepared with witness testimony earlier, so the case is not approved.
Thaci's “and Jakup Krasniqi have more witnesses than Selim and Wessel's. They have seen their strategies that think they are necessary when there are not many witnesses, that may mean they are convinced that the prosecution witnesses have been okay and there is no need for additional witnesses to argue their defence”, he told RTK.
While lawyer Ardian Bajraktari has noted problems related to limited time being granted protection for presenting witnesses.
The timing of such short-term defense sets the latter in uneven position and therefore violates the principle of equality of parties in the procedure. The fact that the protective side has warned few witnesses implies that we are already on to complete this process, which by the end of this year or early next year would have to be completed on the first scale”, he said.
At the feasibility session, to be held in late August, further details on the defence case will be clarified. /Periscope/
