State Minister Taulant Balla has reacted after discussions in the European Parliament on Albania's annual report, which is expected to be approved by majority vote tomorrow, writes Euronews.
Through a social networking post, Minister Balla has stressed the strong support Albania has received from the main political groups in the European Parliament, as well as from the European Commission for European Union membership within this decade.
He underlines that this year's report positions Albania at the helm of Western Balkan countries in the process.
“Gratitude to major political groups in the EP and the European Commission for the clear support of Albania's membership within this decade in the EU. The headline of this year's report is the fact that Albania is at the top of Western Balkan countries in this process,” writes Balla.
As for electoral reform, he has clarified that the new Parliament, which starts work on September 10th, will be the institution that will address these issues.
The report for Albania was drafted by Austrian Eurodeput Andreas Schieder, who earlier declared that “Albania may proudly be called the main favour among EU membership candidates. ”/Periscopi/
