The EU reacts to Osman after asking the US for dialogue: Engage in negotiations without delay and further preconditions

According to Osmani, if success is required in the negotiations process, then the US should be at the table to give direction to the process.

“In the past, most of this process has been left to the European Union, but I think we need a more powerful American role if we want success, if we want progress, we need America there, we need them at the table, we need them present, we need to lead the effort on the basis of values that has always protected them in Kosovo and in the wider region.”, Osmani said in the 10 July discussion at Johns Hopkins University.

The Kosovo president's position has been addressed by the EU. An EU spokesman has said Brussels' expectations are for Kosovo and Serbia to co-operate constructively in the EU-launched dialogue.

Also, this spokesperson has suggested that the EU also requires implementation of all agreements that have been reached between the two states without delay and preconditions.

“We expect both Kosovo and Serbia to engage constructively in the EU-launched dialogue and implement all agreements reached without delay or further preconditions”, this EU spokesman has said without much being issued in comments made by Osmani.

For several months, dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has had no significant development. Kosovo has been in political blockades without new institutions since the February 9th elections.

This political crisis in Kosovo is struggling to exploit the new administration in Brussels, consisting of EU High Representative Kaya Kala and Emisari for the negotiations, Peter Sorensen.

In addition to Dialogue, Kosovo is the only country that has delivered the reform agenda that has yet to receive no cents from the millions of growth plans dedicated by the Western Balkans due to the institutional crisis.
