Albania has achieved another historic moment, in its journey towards membership in the European Union.
The Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU member states has given approval to continue negotiations with our country on Group 5, which include: Sources, Agriculture and Cohesion Politics.
That news was delivered by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Rama said the Danish EU presidency has already been authorised to formally invite Albania to submit its Negotiative position on this group.
“Today, on July 23rd 2025, following Albania's continued and dynamic progress on the road to membership negotiations in the European Union, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU Member States authorised the Danish Presidency to invite Albania to submit its Negotiating position for negotiations on the 508) Group, Rama said.
The groupcapual in question consists of sectors of vital importance for the country's economic and social development, such as agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, as well as territorial and regional cohesion policies, which are fundamental to EU standards and the benefit of European funds efficiently and fairly.
What makes this step even more important is the fact that Group Capitol 5 is the final negotiating chapter, paving the way for completion of the opening phase of all technical chapters.
This means that the process of entry negotiations for each thematic group is already complete, and Albania has met all criteria to move to the final phase of completing chapters and preparing for full membership.
