ECCO Deputy Executive Director Rudina Heroi Puka, in a media interview about energy market liberalisation, and ECSCO's role in this transition, has said the ECSCO objective has not only been to prepare for potential consumers, but to support the entire business sector, even if they do not select this company as their supplier.
The liberalisation of the electricity market has marked one of the most important points for the energy sector in Kosovo. Businesses with over 50 employees or with annual circulation of over 10m euros have been forced to go to open market and choose their energy supplier. This has prompted a new wave of activity and demand that has directly affected the market's authorized suppliers.
K E The SCO, like the largest energy supply and trade experience company in Kosovo, has taken an active role in this process, offering not only contracts but also a transparent and educational approach for all businesses, regardless of whether they will become consumers or not.
To better understand the preparations, challenges, and engagement of the company at this stage, we conducted an interview with Mrs. Rudina Heroi Puka, deputy executive director of KESCO.
What have been the key steps KESCO has taken after receiving information from Z THREE for switching businesses into open market?
Since we received confirmation of a category of businesses on the open market, The ECCO has acted in several parallel ways: we have informed consumers of their obligations and rights, we have prepared technical and administrative platforms for handling demand, we have prepared staff for this specific process, and we have structured offers we will offer for businesses.
Our objective was not only to prepare for our potential consumers, but to support the entire business sector in this transition, even if they did not choose KESCO as their supplier.
A They are.W Direct business to you pWAbout information, huh?Wthat you were a dogW Their supply with fixed tariffs?
Yeah, it's true. We have seen it as a professional and ethical obligation to help businesses understand this process, because many are for the first time facing the concept of open market. Many of these businesses have been consumers of KESCO for a long time, and even though this report has changed with liberalisation, our support does not depend on the contract, but on institutional responsibility.
What has been the business interest in being supplied by KESCO?
Interest has been, and it continues to be very high. So far we have signed about 100 contracts and are under way with dozens of other requests. We are working with increased capacities so that we can meet every requirement before July 30th, when the provisional supply from KEK is also completed as the Last possible supplier.
Is this an easy process for businesses? How do you see ECCO's responsibility in this context?
No, this has not been an easy process for anyone. Neither for businesses facing new financial elections nor for suppliers preparing for a large wave of consumers. But this process is part of a European agenda for liberalisation and competition, and we as companies have been aware that it will happen.
Therefore, it is essential to stay close to businesses, offer support, and ensure that the decisions they make are informed and just.
What is KESCO Premium, and what role does it play in this process?
K E SCO Premium is a dedicated centre for all businesses operating on the open market. It offers concentrated services - counseling, information, assistance in contract binding, and professional orientation. Our address on Fehmi Agan Street is open to all and any business that needs help is welcome.
We have also made email available [email protected] for electronic bidding requests. We know that time is limited, so we seek understanding from businesses for organised and efficient conversation so that we can respond to everyone within the set deadlines.
What guarantees and priorities does KESCO offer for businesses that choose to contact you?
K E SCO is the company with the longest experience in supply and electricity trading in Kosovo. We have built the system on the principle of transparency and long-term partnership, with specialised staff that knows every detail of this market.
We offer not only competitive prices, we offer security, stability and a client approach at the centre. For many businesses, electricity is vital for daily operation, and we take this responsibility very seriously.
What happens after July 30th?
After July 30th, KEK as the Last possible supplier will no longer continue the supply of electricity to businesses belonging to the corrupt category. This means that any business that has not contracted a contract with any licensed suppliers on the open market, including KESCO, risks being left without supply.
Therefore, this period is critical and requires immediate action by businesses. We, like KESCO, are doing our best to address all demands in time, as long as it is in our competence and capacity to manage this process.
However, even after July 30th, businesses will have the right to choose their supplier on the open market. What we strongly recommend is that the contract be connected before this date, in order to ensure the continuation of the supply and avoid any potential risks to disrupt their business activity.
