“doll Labus” has become a viral phenomenon, occupying social networks and toys shelves.
But beyond its unusual and perhaps frightening appearance, it is sparking growing concerns among mental - health professionals. Especially when it comes to children.
What makes this doll attractive to children?
Psychologist Albana Demiri for Clankosova.tv says that strong looks and colors make the doll more visually attractive to children.
She made it known that cases of treatment from the influence of the doll “Labus” has been on the rise recently.
“granted the specific view and strong colors. The doll's design is unusual - large eyes, broad smiles, and characteristics that immediately stand out. These elements make the toy visually attractive to children, especially at the early ages of”, Demiri told Clankosova.tv.
She adds that because of consultations with parents, they have observed satisfaction but also concerns in children, such as anxiety, sleep problems, fear of darkness, and refusal to sleep alone.
Psychologist Demiri said that many parents underestimate the real impact that toys can have on children.
Many parents view this as a passing mode or an innocent desire, underestimating the real impact a toy may have on a child's emotional experiences. In fact, it is not the toys that cause the problem, but the way a child experiences it and interacts with it”, she said.
According to her, the above findings are from personal experiences, since more extensive empirical studies must be done to improve the impact of this toy on children in order to meet more convincingly.
Marketed as a toy, but “Labus” not created for children
On the other hand, psychologist Whitea Myrtaj says that despite marketing as loder, “Labbu” was created, not for children, but more for teenagers and adults who are aware of its symbolic and aesthetics.
In that sense, she said that “Labus” is not a doll to appease the child but to reflect inner emotion in adults.
As a psychologist, I would say that what does Labbububu's scary is exactly what attracts us. When we grew up waiting to be good, quiet, beautiful, a figure like Labus allows us to embrace even our strange, imperfect, even dark aspects. We link this to the concept of accepting ourselves as a whole, not only the beautiful parts, but the ones that society does not easily accept”, Myrtaj said.
She says with “Labbu”, men today are challenging the rigid standards of manhood, linking themselves with sensitivity, warmth, and self - care.
This is not just a doll, it's a permit to feel, and it tells of a generation of men who are cheaper emotionally and who are looking for new forms of internal expression”, Myrtaj said.
