A customs official and truck driver are arrested to attempt smuggling sports underwear with protected brands

Kosovo's customs has reported today that the Anti-Truggling Units have discovered and prevented a case of smuggling suspected goods as forged at the Vremica Border Point, resulting in the arrest of a customs officer and a cargo carrier. According to the Customs media communiqué, during a planned operation a bid has been identified to introduce in Kosovo sports drawers with protected brands, without passing customs control and avoiding payment of obligations.
The “Customs investigators, in collaboration with the competent Prosecutor, have taken all necessary investigative actions. Inquiries have provided sufficient evidence proving that the customs official has failed to fulfil legal duties, enabling the introduction of smuggled goods,”, said the report.
By order of the State Attorney, they were detained for 48 hours: Customs Official for Criminal Work “Use of Official Task”; Transport vehicle driver for criminal work “Smuggle of goods” and “Avoid paying customs duties”.
Kosovo customs has stressed that it remains committed to the fight against smuggling and protection of the domestic market, prosecuting every case of forced abuse and illegal activities that harm the country's economy. /Periscope/
