Since 2008, Croatia has had the decision to mandatory military service suspended, but under the new plan, the service will resume in 2026 and last two months.
As for the census, each Croatian citizen will register at the age of 18, while military training will be sent to the age of 19. In some cases, training may include citizens between the ages of 19 and 30.
If an individual does not appear, authorities may issue a police order for his forced behaviour, and he will face fines of between 250 and 1320 euros. Women will have no legal obligation for military service, but they can volunteer in training, sends out the telegraph.
Military service will be accounted for as work experience (contribution for retirement) and paid at 1100 euros net per month, reports Clix.ba.
Furthermore, those employed cannot be fired during the military service period, while the unemployed will take priority in employment in state institutions, writes Croatian media.
There will also be the possibility of delaying service both for study reasons until the age of 29 and for athletes representing Croatia in European and world events. /Periscope/
