The crisis in the Parliament and the Rights of Serbs, topics of discussion between UN senior official and politicians

Hykmete Bajrami has said that at the meeting with Hanrahan, he has talked about the institutional crisis in Kosovo ʹ reference to the non-compliance of the Kosovo Assembly.

MPs gather on April 15th to attempt to establish the Assembly after the February 9th parliamentary elections, but fail to find a compromise on the situation.

Bajrami has said the LDK stands on the side of solutions strengthening institutions, preserving democracy and, above all, serving state interest.

The situation is blocked in the country after the PDK, the LDK, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Serbian List refuse to propose by a candidate for formation of a secret voting commission, arguing that the way to change the vote is unconstitutional.

The Vetevendosje Movement ( Vetevendosje) most votes in the February 9th elections requires that Albulen Haxhiun éxhiun, proposed for the chief parliament, be voted only once through secret voting, and if he does not secure the 61 votes needed, it will withdraw from the race.

It has not secured the necessary votes in several successive sessions that have been held by an open vote. For some parties, it is a divisive and unacceptable figure.

Although the court has defined July 26th as the deadline for constitutionalisation, it has offered no more details as to what happens away if the parties do not agree by then.

Representatives of the Serbian List have said through a communique that they have discussed at the meeting with the US official what they have named <x0 daily unilateral actions of institutions in Pristina, which further exacerbate the fragile security situation and violate the fundamental rights of the Serbian people”.

However, they have not mentioned anything specific when they talked about violating the rights of the Serb community.

A day earlier, the US diplomat has also met with incumbent Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the residence of a charge d'afro at the US Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati.

Through a media communiqué, the prime minister's office has said the parties have discussed the ticket relations between Kosovo and the United States and the importance of deepening co-operation.

The United States of America is a staunch ally for our country, and the Republic of Kosovo will always be their reliable partner”, Kurti is quoted as saying according to the communiqué.

Before Kosovo, Hanrahan has also paid visits to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the start of the visit, he has said he is eager to reinforce ties between the United States and the Balkan region states. / REL
