Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus said the United Nations Health Agency has launched ten trucks from El-Arish to Egypt towards the Kerem border crossing in Israel to the Gaza Strip.
Trucks are transporting <x0ilaces essence, laboratory equipment and for testing water”, he said, while two other trucks with medical supplies, along with blood doses, are expected to head towards Gaza on Thursday.
“All O supplies The BSH will then be sent to Gaza, along with three trucks with medical supplies sent by our health partners”, Tedros said on platform X.
The medical needs in Gaza are great. It is vital that there be constant remittances in Gaza with medical supplies. We continue to call for safe and unhindered access to medical aid directly and inside Gaza as well as a truce. Peace is the best drug”, he added.
Israel imposed a full blockade in Gaza on March 2nd, after failing talks on a ceasefire. In late May, Israel began to allow for the introduction of a small amount of aid, as there have been reports of famine cases and famine - related deaths recently.
This week, Israel launched daily stops in military operations in several Gaza areas and opened safe corridors to enable distribution of food from UN agencies and other humanitarian organisations in this territory where over 2 million people live.
O The BSH said that in Gaza, air strikes and lack of medical, food and water supplies have caused the health system to be “almost destroyed”. Many hospitals are out of place, while others, according to O BSH, they're barely working.
An OBS spokesman told the agency AFP have entered the agency's nine trucks on June 25th; four on June 28th; eleven on July 8th; and another six on July 20th.
The Gaza War has started on October 7th 2023, when Hamas radicals declared a terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union attacked the south of Israel, killing about 1,200 people and kidnapping about 250 others. Close to 50 people are believed to still be held in Gaza, while others have been released in preliminary ceasefire agreements. / REL
