Kosovo Police Inspectorate, respectively, its investigators in continued co-ordination with the State Prosecutor are taking investigative action regarding the death of a citizen in Lipjan and the reaction of police officials to the incident today after midnight on the “Haradin Bajrami” in Lipjan.
The investigative actions include identifying and interviewing eyewitnesses of this case, as well as gathering material evidence, recording from security cameras and recording from mobile phones.
All these material videos will be part of detailed examinations expected to help clarify the circumstances of this incident, but also the manner of police response.
In the interest of conducting an investigation, The IPK has recommended to the Kosovo Police the provisional suspension measure for the five police officials involved in this intervention/pol police response], including a sergeant and four police officials.
Their support is a temporary administrative measure and in this phase does not prejudge their legal or professional responsibility.
These are the 5 officers suspended for the 27-year-old Lipjan case.
The IPK in co-ordination with the State Prosecutor is making an independent, objective and comprehensive investigation to determine whether legal procedures and professional standards of police action have been respected during the intervention/pol police response.
The IPK recalls the broad opinion that cases of this nature are handled with high priority and any individual or even institutional responsibilities will be addressed based on the findings of the IPK's investigation and legal authorisations and other laws in the Republic of Kosovo.
